BAYSIDE
CLUB DAY
-
Club night occurs every second week at the Des
Renford Aquatic Centre.
-
In summer it is held on a Thursday night with
races starting at 6:30 pm sharp in the 50 metre
pool.
-
In winter it is held on a Saturday afternoon
with races starting at 4:00 pm sharp, in the 25
metre indoor pool.
-
It costs $3.00per person/$5.00 a family
(competitors only) to enter on the day and money
should be paid to the club registrar (Tracy)
when you arrive at the pool. Pool entry is
free however Bayside have to hire the lanes for
club day, so this money goes towards the hire.
-
Club is run by volunteers
and we need as many people as possible to time keep, start
races, run the computer and marshal children. Please put up your hand, the night is only as
successful as the people who make it that way.
Bayside’s club meets are the central focus
of our club. It provides an opportunity for all our swimmers to
come and regularly practise racing in a relaxed and friendly
environment. It also provides an opportunity for Bayside
families to meet each other and contribute towards running our
club.
CLUB AWARDS AND PRESENTATION
To
be eligible to be crowned Age Champion or get a major trophy and
gift at our presentation night you will need to have swum at 10
club days or 15 Club days and carnivals combined (with a minimum
of 5 club days). Financial members who swim in our club
championships and have not qualified for a major trophy and
prize will still receive
a small participation trophy on presentation
night regardless of how many swims they have
completed.
Bayside point score procedure and club awards
Bayside has a point score system that allows
swimmers to accumulate points for swimming at club. These points
are awarded as a result of the times a swimmer achieves when
swimming at club. Swimmers are rewarded for improving their own
personal club swimming times, not for winning a race.
Each week only 2 swims may be swum by a swimmer.
Points are allocated as follows:
5 points - swimming faster than your best time
4 points - equal or within .5 seconds of your best time
3 points - for more than .5 seconds below your best time
At the end of the swimming year (September), these points are
tallied and collated. Each swimmer's total points are then used
to find who has the highest point scores.

night at the end of the swimming year. Also included is an
