Swimming For Parents

Swimming Parents

When your child joins Bayside, you also become part of our team. All parents are encouraged

to become members of our club, either as swimmers or non-swimmers. Membership entitles

you to vote at our club Annual General Meeting each December.

Regardless of whether you are officially a member, all parents represent the backbone of the

club and have a duty to the team to help out as much as possible. Various ways you may wish

to contribute include  offering to help as  timekeeper or marshall at club meets; organising the

sausage sizzle; organising a raffle; coming up with new ideas for sponsorship and fundraising,

 attending committee meetings.

As a member of the Bayside team please help out at all fundraising events, whether or not your child will directly benefit from it (they may well benefit next year, if not this year).

Parents can also help our club by donating funds through sponsorship, or donating skills,

services or items for raffles.

Don’t be bashful. Please let the committee know how you’d like to help. And remember, if we

didn’t want your help we wouldn’t be asking.

Getting technical

No swim meet (club or interclub) can function properly without technical officials. By becoming a technical official, you will be helped  through their swimming careers.

Swimming NSW offers parents (and older swimmers) the opportunity to qualify for the following positions:

Timekeeper

Finish judge

Starter

Marshall

Referee

To qualify for each of these you need to attend lectures and sit an exam.

All held here at DRAC.

All Bayside parents of swimmers who are attending interclub carnivals should think

about becoming a timekeeper at the minimum.
